About Carolyn
As a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, I have a wide range of clinical experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I use a multi-modality approach to working with individuals, families and couples, and treat mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, as well as behavioral and social difficulties. I also work with clients who are going through life transitions, such as divorce and loss. In addition, I am a Certified EMDR therapist. Adolescence is another area of expertise and I have worked with many teens on mental health, identity issues, self esteem, and improving communication with their parents. I also specialize in reproductive and perinatal mental health, supporting women before, during and after pregnancy, and pregnancy loss.
With this population, my focus is on helping women navigate the transition to motherhood by finding balance and building confidence in their new identity. I have completed Intensive Training in Maternal Mental Health from the Seleni Institute in New York, NY and Core Components Training through Postpartum Support International (PSI). My personal style draws upon the warmth and compassion that is inherent in creating the type of safety that is necessary to promote lasting, positive change. Working from a family systems perspective, I explore the functioning of the family system in order to foster healthier relationships and behaviors.
I have also completed basic training in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy and work with couples looking to strengthen their relationships or work through conflict. I received my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University and my B.A. in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross, and I have been in practice since 2011.
